At MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. we strive to be the most progressive and innovative pheasant farm in the world. Our success in market birds throughout the world has been tied to our unique genetics. In the past we have been able to import wild pheasants from China to produce our Manchurian Cross, the wildest pheasant being sold on the market. And we continue to work diligently to maintain and improve our current pheasant stocks.<\/p>\n
But as you know the world around us is\u00a0constantly changing, and customer\u2019s\u00a0preferences certainly are no different. It\u2019s not\u00a0surprising that we\u2019ve seen some shift in the\u00a0pheasant industry toward smaller bodied\u00a0birds. As anyone who raises pheasants would\u00a0know, the cost of feed has risen dramatically\u00a0over the last few years.<\/p>\n
Being a connoisseur of fine pheasant genetics\u00a0we began evaluating our options to respond to\u00a0the specific needs of our customers. We were\u00a0lucky to have worked with Thundering Wings\u00a0Pheasant Farm of Kansas in the past. Larry\u00a0Weber is the owner and has been breeding\u00a0pheasants for greater than 20 years. His bird,\u00a0the Kansas Thunder, is the best Kansas type\u00a0pheasant we\u2019ve evaluated. A small uniform\u00a0sized bird with explosive flight characteristics\u00a0combined with good livability and demeanor.\u00a0Feedback from Europe was also very positive.<\/p>\n
In the spring of 2011 we began discussing\u00a0with Larry about providing MacFarlane\u00a0Pheasants, Inc. with breeding stock to\u00a0produce the Kansas Thunder pheasants. In\u00a0May of 2011 I was able to visit Thundering\u00a0Wings to finalize the agreement for\u00a0MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. to become the\u00a0distributor of Kansas Thunder pheasants.\u00a0Shortly after primary breeder stock eggs were\u00a0placed in our incubators that will produce our\u00a02012 Kansas Thunder breeder flock. As part\u00a0of our agreement Thundering Wings will\u00a0continually provide us with new primary\u00a0breeding stock on a yearly basis.<\/p>\n
In the spring of 2012 we will begin selling\u00a0Kansas Thunder chicks, and we will have\u00a0mature Kansas Thunder available for the fall\u00a0of 2012.
