During the 2022-2023 Mature Bird Season at MacFarlane Pheasants, you can still get on a waiting list if you would like to get pheasants or chukars, but at this time, we are sold out. Our customers are ordering more birds every year, so it is vital to learn about the process for ordering early in the year.<\/p>\n
This year we raised 422,000 pheasants and 45,000 chukars. We were unable to get our French and Hungarians because of the Avian Flu epidemic. Still, we are hopeful that the situation will resolve and these birds will be available next year. Many producers have not been raising birds yearly because of the complications they have experienced with the Avian Flu and Covid. We feel fortunate that our flocks are healthy because our MacFarlane Pheasants\u2019 customers are buying our birds faster than ever. We continue to deliver birds all over the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n

MacFarlane Pheasants begins setting production for the coming year in November and December. Prices are set in January, and Sarah Baker, our Mature Bird Sales Manager, begins sending quotes to all current customers in February. She provides a due date for placing orders. After that date, ordering is open to all interested customers. We stress how important it is for our customers to get their formal requests for birds in by the due date! Our orders help us to plan how many pheasants to raise for the season. We like to have all our orders in by April, so we have time to adjust production if necessary. Adjusting production means we raise more chicks to maturity to meet the needs of our customers. Chick sales are also booming, though, so it is a complicated process raising the perfect amount of birds. We certainly do our best to keep our customers happy!<\/p>\n
