{"id":3362,"date":"2021-07-07T03:22:31","date_gmt":"2021-07-07T03:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pheasant1.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=3362"},"modified":"2024-09-19T22:07:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T22:07:10","slug":"spicy-almond-pheasant-soup-is-one-more-way-to-enjoy-macfarlane-pheasant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pheasant.com\/about-us\/blog\/spicy-almond-pheasant-soup-is-one-more-way-to-enjoy-macfarlane-pheasant","title":{"rendered":"Spicy Almond Pheasant Soup Is One More Way to Enjoy MacFarlane Pheasant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spicy Almond Pheasant Soup can be enjoyed year-round, but what I like best about this recipe is that it\u2019s so easy, and during mid-summer, when you are looking for a break from grilling out, it is a yummy and healthy alternative.<\/p>\n<h2>Spicy Almond Pheasant Soup Ingredients:<\/h2>\n<p>Adapted from:\u00a0The Wellbeing Kitchen, By Lisa Erickson<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 tablespoons butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup chopped onion<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon fresh ginger<\/li>\n<li>\u00be cup toasted slivered almonds finely ground<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon Pepper<\/li>\n<li>1-2 teaspoons jalape\u00f1os from a jar<\/li>\n<li>2 carrots, sliced<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup frozen peas<\/li>\n<li>1 cup pheasant breast cubed<\/li>\n<li>2 cups pheasant broth or chicken broth<\/li>\n<li>1 cup \u00bd &amp; \u00bd<\/li>\n<li>Sprigs of fresh parsley<\/li>\n<li>Crusty bread<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Recipe Directions:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt\u00a0half of\u00a0the butter in a Dutch oven over med\/high heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add the onion and ginger root, and saut\u00e9 until it\u2019s tender.<\/li>\n<li>Lower the heat and add the almonds, salt, pepper, jalape\u00f1o, and carrots.<\/li>\n<li>Fry these ingredients for about 10 minutes until\u00a0fragrant.\u00a0Constantly stir during this process.<\/li>\n<li>Remove your pan from the heat and let it cool slightly.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the ingredients to a food processor or blender and process them for 1-2 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile,\u00a0in the same pan, melt remaining butter and saute the pheasant until cooked through.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the broth through the feed tube and blend for 30 seconds longer.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the soup back into the Dutch oven, and bring the soup to a rolling boil.<\/li>\n<li>Add peas.<\/li>\n<li>Take your pan off the heat and add the cream and pheasant.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When you are ready to serve your soup, heat it over low heat, stirring occasionally. Serve your soup garnished with sprigs of parsley and some crusty bread.
